Inspiring Lessons from Our Guest Speakers

Thank You for Attending Our X Space Event! We did it again!

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who attended our X Space event last night. Your presence made it truly special, and I am so grateful for your active participation.

A special thanks goes out to our incredible guest speakers:
Mr. Patrick Essien ,
Mr. Daniel Anyemedu ,
Dr. Allen Harper ,
Prince Carl Tuffour Frimpong Mr. Olúmáyòwá Akinkuehinmi,
Mr. Mawuko Kudzo Kpatah, and
Dr Iretioluwa Akerele

Each of you brought your unique perspective and expertise, speaking not only professionally but with the warmth and guidance of older siblings in the cybersecurity industry as the scheduled 2-hour turned over 4 hours 😲
Your contributions were invaluable, and we are honored to have had you with us.

Mr. Patrick shared how his background in electronic security and his commitment to his family led him to cybersecurity. He highlighted the importance of mentorship, advising us not to navigate this journey alone.

Mr. Nana inspired us with his early exposure to the tech world and his passion for cybersecurity, despite challenges like balancing schoolwork and financial constraints. He reminded us to invest in our professional development and not spend all our resources on temporary pleasures.

Dr. Allen moved us with his story of overcoming a challenging upbringing and defying expectations by not only going to college but earning a PhD. His powerful message: it’s not where you start, but where you finish. Don’t let your circumstances define you.

Prince Carl encouraged us with his journey from accounting to cybersecurity, showing that consistent effort and learning, even with limited resources, can lead to great achievements. He made the most of what he had, even learning on his mobile phone when he didn’t have access to a computer.

Mr. Olúmáyòwá Akinkuehinmi shared how his self-learning journey in technology began with tools like Packet Tracer. His curiosity led him to an unexpected mentor in a bank, where a chance conversation about routers and switches sparked his interest. His thirst for knowledge saw him move from one role to another, eventually traveling the world for jobs and training.

His challenges: It was a long, solo journey with few guides and resources. His

His suggestion: Even without prior experience, be ready to learn. Keep diving deeper, and never settle for less. See what you want to achieve in your dreams and work towards it relentlessly.

Mr. Mawuko Kudzo Kpatah had a humble beginning but was determined to fund his university education. A chance encounter with a school network device ignited his interest in cybersecurity. He went on to earn two degrees in cybersecurity and became one of Cisco’s trained trainers, ultimately launching a successful career in academia.

His suggestions: Your background doesn’t define your potential. Keep learning and seize every opportunity to improve, no matter the challenges.

Dr Iretioluwa Akerele started her cybersecurity journey in 2013. Dissatisfied with the routine of her banking job, she relocated to the UK for further education, despite her initial plans to focus on family life. With determination, she graduated with distinction and has since overcome toxic work environments and difficult clients.

Her challenges: Overwhelming workloads, toxic bosses and difficult clients.

Her suggestions: Don’t navigate cybersecurity alone. Seek guidance, mentorship, and community support. Tackle challenges head-on and never give up, even when the going gets tough.

These are just some of the gems shared by our speakers, and I know each of you took away something valuable to guide you in your cybersecurity journey.

Thank you all once again for your support, and I look forward to continuing this journey with you!
